As the year comes to an end, we reflect on 2017, and look forward to 2018…

2017 has been a year a significant change for us here at the Alliance...

First and foremost, our strategic plan for 2017-2020 got underway, setting a new course for a more inclusive membership body of civil society, university, public and private sector organisations in Scotland and beyond.

Membership is now open to everyone who is committed to creating a fairer world, free from poverty, injustice and environmental threats....

...As part of this new strategic direction, we rebranded, left NIDOS to history, and became Scotland’s International Development Alliance.

Over the course of 2017, we welcomed 24 new member organisations!  These new members range from universities and international charities to public sector bodies and social enterprises.

Our staff team has undergone big changes, sadly saying goodbye to some, but happily welcoming new staff. Check out our staff team page, and find the best person to contact for any queries you might have.

At our official launch and Annual Conference in September 2017, we welcomed more than 140 people from across Scotland and beyond to discuss how our sector will face up to the challenges and opportunities that a broader Alliance presents.

In the latter part of the year, we have been working hard in different areas, including re-establishing our policy committee, creating new online resources to help our members, and organising networking and training events across the country. We have also now become the Secretariat for the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on International Development.

This year has also seen our Alliance take active roles in other networks including Scotland's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Network.

Starting the year with a bang, in January we will be launching a collaborative working group on ‘Leave No One Behind’, a fundamental part of achieving the SDGs.  Click here for more info.

Also from January onwards, we will be continuing to facilitate opportunities for our members to meet with colleagues at both DfID and the Scottish Government. Make sure to check our website, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn regularly to find out when and where.

On top of that, don’t forget to save the date for a training day for all members on the 8th March 2018!

We are already working towards making sure our Annual Conference in September 2018 is a success.

Finally, and importantly, 2018 will see the development and implementation of a range of new services and resources in response to member feedback. This will include a new online community hub for discussion and collaboration between our members, a new legal FAQs page and much more…
