Scottish Government 2018 Malawi Development Grants deadline fast approaching
The Scottish Government’s Malawi Development Programme operates as a two stage application process. The deadline for the first stage of the process is 26 January and requires interested organisations to submit a concept note which will provide a clear overview of the planned project and demonstrate the impact that the work will have. Application details are shown on the Corra Foundation website.
The Malawi Development Programme fits within the development assistance programme, the first and largest element in the Scottish Government’s £10m International Development Fund, one means by which it implements its International Development Strategy.
This call is worth a total of £2,500,000 per annum and incorporates some new features.
Grants can now be made up to a maximum of £300,000 per annum and extend for a period of up to 4.5 years. The lower annual turnover limit and the turnover ratio that applied to the recent Rwanda/Zambia round have been removed. The Scottish Government have also made it clear that although weighting will be given to projects which are delivered over the full 4.5 years and to the maximum budget, a proposal that is for a lower grant will not be at a disadvantage provided there is collaboration/complementarity with another proposal. Assessment of proposals will also consider how projects align with the Scottish Government’s International Development Strategy and the Global Goals.
