Scotland’s Minister for Europe and International Development to give opening address at upcoming Digital Summit
Scotland’s Minister for Europe and International Development – Jenny Gilruth MSP – will address participants at the Alliance’s upcoming Digital Summit: Global Development beyond COVID-19, taking place on 24th September 2020.
Ms Gilruth’s keynote speech will kick off the proceedings at this interactive online event, which will aim to explore the big picture implications of Covid-19 on our sector and the communities we work with.
Speaking on behalf of Scotland’s International Development Alliance, Chief Executive, Jane Salmonson, said:
“We are delighted that the Minister has confirmed she will address our Digital Summit. Her support and public endorsement of our sector’s work at these challenging times offers huge encouragement as we work towards our shared vision of a sustainable and just future, beyond COVID-19”.
Also confirmed among the line-up of speakers and contributors is the event’s Chair, Talat Yaqoob. Recently elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Talat has extensive experience working across equalities issues, with a particular focus on women and intersectionality. A passionate campaigner with a strong background in public affairs, social research and training and development, much of Talat’s current work is centred on projects related to women of colour in media, migrants’ rights and policy participation.
