Organisations upskill with support from Alliance's Members' Training Fund
Join the handful of Alliance members who have recently been awarded up to £250 in funding to undertake skills development training, thanks to the Alliance’s Members’ Training Fund.
During these uncertain times, a number of Alliance member organisations have turned a crisis into an opportunity in order to upskill, with support from the Alliance's Members' Training Fund. Among those to benefit from the funding was Irene Graham from Charity Education International, who received the maximum bursary of £250 to cover the costs of Bond’s Managing Safeguarding Investigations online course, which she rated 9 out of 10 overall, and gave the training facilitator and materials a full 10 out of 10 rating. She said,
“This training builds on the training provided by the Alliance on the topic of Safeguarding. This was specifically on managing investigations which required the intensity of three half-days online.
I will use it to redraft CEI’s procedures and to support our in-country partner in conducting investigations.”

Further Alliance members to benefit from the available funding include Christian Engineers in Development’s Graham Miller, who completed a wave and hydro-power course.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, its Director Mike Beresford said,
“We are extremely thankful for [the Alliance’s] support for this training which will really help us as we seek to support the poorest communities overseas – in particular, our hydro-power projects in development in Uganda.”

With fundraising being hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic, the team behind Community Interest Company Mxogyny were keen to upskill in this area, with Co-Director Maisie Palmer tapping into the Alliance’s training fund to complete an online training course on Fundraising Strategy Development, delivered by the Foundation for Social Improvement.
In her post-training feedback questionnaire, she said,
“This was a great opportunity, especially given the current global situation. Upskilling was a great way to keep the company productive at a time of uncertainty.”
