Alliance members elect new board members!

We are delighted to announce that Kara Weekes and Jon Novakovic were elected to our member-led Board of Trustees at our 2020 AGM last week. So who are they?

Kara Weekes

A previous staff member of the Alliance, Kara  is a development professional based at CBM’s Scottish Office in Edinburgh. She works as a Programme Officer managing projects in Tanzania and Nigeria (focusing on improving child eye health and obstetric fistula respectively). She also supports proposal writing for funds from institutional donors and is particularly passionate about climate justice, post-colonialism, and shifting of power. In her free time, Kara volunteers for the youth-led organisation 2050 Climate Group.

Jon Novakovic

Jon has been based out of Mercy Corps’ Edinburgh office for the last four years. In Mercy Corps’ global Crisis Analysis team, he supports and guides specialist humanitarian analysis teams in complex contexts across the globe. He supports the rapid set up of analytical cells to support humanitarian responses to emergencies. He has previously been based in Afghanistan and East Timor with a focus on conflict and research. In a prior life, Jon worked in the government and private sectors with a focus on linking communities with decision makers, pushing for genuine discourse to improve decision-making. Jon is based in Glasgow with his wife and children.

…And goodbye to our outgoing Trustees!

Our outgoing board members Peppy Sparrow and Mark Chadwick will be missed, and we thank them both for their time and commitment to the Alliance during their repsective terms.
