Yes! Tanzania

YES! Tanzania identifies potential organisations that require support and works in partnership with them to assess their needs and establish a plan of action to be implemented over an agreed period of time. From our pool of skilled, experienced and professional people from the sport, youth and business sectors in Scotland who have volunteered their time, we select the appropriate individual or put together a team to help deliver the plan. YES! Tanzania is currently working towards implementing a one-year pilot project, based in Arusha, Tanzania. It will focus its efforts on registering existing youth (12 to 25 year olds) football, netball, basketball and volleyball teams within the Arusha area. YES! Tanzania will design fully inclusive ‘Aspirational Sports and Youth Development’ programmes to meet the needs of the young people from these teams. Fundamentally, these YES! Tanzania programmes will be all about getting young people excited about sport and feeling that they can really make progress towards their own personal goals through sport. From this positive starting point YES! Tanzania will aim to offer personal developmental modules that will allow young people to learn and grow in their wider lives away from sport. These core aims of YES! Tanzania, it is hoped, will be delivered in partnership with the National Sports Council of Tanzania (NSCT) and specifically it’s Youth Sports Leadership Programme. This will involve NSCT building the capacity of Youth Leadership with the required skills and YES! Tanzania working with these leaders to help them offer positive sports and development programmes in their clubs.
