AYDAP Scotland

Our Objectives as per our Constitution are: a) To advance the education of young people in Africa through the provision of information, guidance and services in relation to health, the environment and culture. b) To alleviate poverty among young people in Africa by enabling them to access education and career choices through the provision of employment guidance, advice and information.c) To advance the education of young people in countries out with Africa by increasing their awareness of health, employment, environmental and cultural issues affecting African youth.

Our current work is in Liberia West Africa among young people in a number of secondary schools with a programme of drama, dance, music and group comes from using local Liberian volunteers and our own Liberian team using a  general theme of Sexual exploitation and Abuse (S.E.A) to encourage the students to learn important life skills and an increased awareness of the social and health issues resulting from such abuse. Our activities are likely to be confined to Liberia ( which is the home country of our Co-ordinator resident in Scotland) for the foreseeable future. This programme has the added purpose of capacity building among our local volunteers with experience as community advisors and enablers in this type pf activity. We have also financed the provision of locally made armchairs to a school in Monrovia where ( like many other such schools) equipment and classroom facilities are highly inadequate.
