Firefly International is a small charity based in Scotland which works with local partner organisations to support the delivery of additional educational projects and psycho-social support to children and young people in conflict and post conflict areas.
Aims and Activities
Firefly International's key aim is to enable partners in conflict and post conflict areas to create additional educational programmes for children and young people.
In Bosnia we have programme which has been running since 1998 delivered by our partner Svitac who we support financially and with resources and training too. The programme there is focused on building tolerance in the most multi ethnic area of Bosnia, Brcko.
In Turkey we support a project based in Antakya run by Syrian refugees for Syrian refugees. This project has been running since early 2016 and provides additional educational projects and psycho social support to around 300 children each year.
Recently Firefly has extended its work by supporting an outreach project which delivers science resources and teacher training packs into Syria. Currently we are supplying these packs to ten centers in Northern Syria.
