Creating Hope in Conflict: A Humanitarian Grand Challenge

Solutions that enable lifesaving or life-improving assistance to reach the most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach people in conflict-generated humanitarian crises. Specifically, we seek innovations that engage the private sector and involve input from the affected communities in order to provide safe water and sanitation, energy, lifesaving information, or health supplies and services to help conflict-affected people.

Darwin Initiative New Funding Round

The Darwin Initiative is funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and was announced at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992. It supports developing countries to conserve biodiversity and reduce poverty and is the UK's primary mechanism to champion biodiversity conservation and support the development of vibrant in-country conservation sectors.

Type of project: Projects which engage with community initiatives and networks to strengthen and promote social cohesion and reconciliation; reduce socio economic disparities and exclusions by supporting resettlement of conflict-affected populations; create economic opportunities for the most marginalized communities and strengthen Local Government bodies and CBOs to provide sustainable services to the most marginalized; enhance community resilience by providing access to psychosocial services and create opportunities for youth and women to exercise leadership in promoting responsible citizenship and reconciliation.

Japan Water Fund

Provides funding for projects which solve water-related issues at the grass-roots level. Support is provided for grass-roots organisations in developing countries who have been addressing water-related issues in their own countries. Every year, JWF publicly seeks for projects and those adopted after due assessment will be eligible to get funding up to 1,000 USD per project.
