EMMS International works with partners in Edinburgh, Malawi, Nepal, Zambia and India to improve people’s well-being and provide better healthcare. They run a diverse range of initiatives with an emphasis on some of the poorest and hardest to reach areas of the world. As well as specialising in palliative care, mother and baby health and the prevention of transmission of diseases, their work also addresses inequalities for people who are excluded and marginalised through education, training and development.

About the Role

Working with the Director of Fundraising, the Trusts and Foundations Officer is responsible for the development and delivery of the Trusts and Foundations partnership programme against agreed annual income targets.The post holder will manage and grow relationships with Trust and Foundation link, develop a strategy to increase the number of quality funders to the Charity, research and write high standard grant applications, write accurate and inspiring reports to funders and fulfil all grant monitoring requirements, support the Fundraising team in other related activities where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make high-quality and punctual applications to charitable trusts on behalf of EMMS.
  • Maximise income from charitable trusts and foundations and work towards agreed annual target.
  • Develop and deliver bespoke activities and communications including: 
    • making thank you calls
    • sending excellent donor acknowledgement and project update correspondence
    • face to face meetings 
    • cultivation events 
    •  project visits where appropriate.
  • Create new income streams. 
    • Research and identify prospective new funders and work closely with the Director of Fundraising to develop a cultivation plan. 
  • Report on agreed key performance indicators and monitor and evaluate against grants received
  • Ensure EMMS International’s database (Raisers Edge) is fully updated with all information and correspondence. 
  • Help manage GDPR compliance
  • Share relevant information with the rest of the Fundraising Team
  • Develop and maintain a full understanding of all programme activity at EMMS International.
  • Perform any other such duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as determined by the Director of Fundraising

This role will require occasional evening and weekend working.
