Treasurer - Friends of Chitambo SCIO

Location: Penicuik, Edinburgh, Midlothian.

Voluntary position.

Friends of Chitambo is a Scottish Incorporated Charitable Organisation (SCIO) which provides support to remote, rural Chitambo Hospital in central Zambia. Their activities, identified by local contacts, include providing medical equipment; nurse training scholarships for disadvantaged students; anti-shock garments (life wraps) for preventing hemorrhage in childbirth; emergency care textbooks; information downloads to mobile devices (tablets, pcs, and mobile phones); emergency radios; first aid training for ambulance crews; ambulance maintenance; and more.  They are also contributing to strengthening emergency care communication processes. They do this through general charity fundraising and grant funding.

Role and Responsibilities

Duties will include overseeing all their organisation's financial matters, including: 

1.      Financial planning and budgeting

2.      Developing and maintaining online accounting systems

3.      Keeping accurate financial records

4.      Attending bi-monthly committee meetings

5.      Providing regular financial statements to the committee

6.      Communicating with other committee members about relevant financial matters

7.      Preparing reports for external examiners/regulatory and funding bodies

Any other relevant duties as required.

Person Specification

They are seeking someone with the following skills:

·       Knowledge and experience of bookkeeping/financial management

·       Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to voluntary and community  organisations

·       Good financial analysis and reporting skills

·       Ability to communicate financial information clearly.

Ability to work in a diverse team.
