PROJECT TRUST - OVERSEAS DIRECTOR

Project Trust is an educational charity based on the Hebridean Isle of Coll. Since 1967 Project Trust has sent over 7,000 school leavers as Volunteers to Africa, Asia and the Americas to a wide range of long-term volunteering projects including teaching, social care work, outward bound instructing and community development.

Project Trust is widely regarded as the leader in the field of international volunteering.

Following recent organisational changes an exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding Overseas Director to take responsibility for the overseas programme at Project Trust.  The role of Overseas Director is a key post with responsibility for the overall management of Project Trust’s activities overseas.  As a member of our Senior Management team, managing an experienced team, the Overseas Director is also expected to provide advice to the CEO and the Trustees, as appropriate, on the overall smooth running of the organisation.

The Overseas Director will assume responsibility for the strategic direction, implementation and risk management of the extensive overseas programme for Project Trust.  The post holder will manage the planning and coordination of all overseas teaching, social care & community projects and country programmes including Overseas Representatives, field resources, finance, communications, reporting and risk assessments; as well as the management of the Overseas Team.

The successful candidate will have experience and/or qualifications in international development, management, business or another relevant field, as well as leadership skills in both strategic and operational roles, ideally in the charity sector.  In addition, the Overseas Director will have an understanding and experience of youth development and of delivering programmes and services in an international context.

The position of Overseas Director will be based in the Project Trust office on the Isle of Coll and is expected to undertake international travel on a regular basis.
