Programmes Officer (permanent, full time)

Mary’s Meals International

Glasgow

Starting Salary £24,161

Mary’s Meals International is a fast-growing international charity, currently providing over one million hungry and impoverished children in four continents with a daily school meal.

Mary’s Meals International is the central organisation that co-ordinates, supports and leads the global Mary’s Meals movement, under the direction of the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer and through the work of seven global directorates: Programmes, Finance, People, Strategic Planning and Partnerships, IT and Operations, Communications and Network Development.

The global Mary’s Meals movement is facilitated through the Mary’s Meals International Network, with registered charity affiliates in Austria, Canada, Croatia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, the UK and the USA, raising funds to support life-changing programmes in Benin, Ecuador, Haiti, India, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Malawi, Myanmar, Romania, South Sudan, Syria, Thailand, Uganda and Zambia.

You will contribute to the development and operational success of the school feeding programmes. In this role, you will ensure that the work carried out by our directly managed and partner programmes is understood, supported and delivered in line with the Mary’s Meals model.

It is essential that you have a degree in a relevant subject or demonstrable significant experience in a similar role and have worked in development in a developing country.  You must be able to commit to regular travel to visit our overseas directly managed and partner programmes.

In addition, you will have an understanding of the principles of international development as well as cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in different countries and settings. Familiarity with using common planning tools in international development, including log frames is essential, with experience of reporting on institutional grants highly desirable.  You will have excellent writing and presentation skills and experience of developing, monitoring and reporting against agreed strategy and providing operational reports to management.

Most importantly, you will have an appreciation of the impact of Mary’s Meals school feeding programme and a belief that our simple approach can change the lives of children and communities.

If you would like to make a difference to the lives of thousands of children across the world, we’d love to hear from you.   We are looking for an exceptional candidate who has experience being part of an implementation team and who can get the job done.

By contributing to the work of Mary’s Meals, you will become part of a worldwide movement of people who will not accept that any child in this world of plenty should endure a day without a meal.
