Location: Central Edinburgh

Salary: £25,715 – £28,351

Link Community Development is a grassroots charity working to transform education across some of the poorest rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa. We focus on improving teaching and learning as well as building up life skills and inclusion for the most marginalised.

Job Purpose:

Due to growth, this dynamic and ambitious not for profit organisation is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Finance Officer to support our busy teams in Edinburgh and across sub-Saharan Africa. They are looking for an all-rounder with practical accounting experience and a hands-on approach to succeed in this varied role which covers all aspects of financial management, developing budgets and donor reporting.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate finance support to the programme and fundraising teams to assist them with forecasting, budgeting, reconciliation and reporting
  • Support preparation of donor budgets and reporting in line with agreed timetables
  • Maintain accurate records of both unrestricted and restricted fund transactions including receipts, grants, expenses and cash balances
  • Support preparation of annual budget
  • Cash management and robust cash flows
  • Prepare supporting documents for the annual financial statements
  • Prepare management reports and comparison of actual against budget 
  • Prepare ad hoc finance reports as required 
  • Review the QuickBooks financial ledgers including period end processes and reconciliations
  • Provide first line support to Finance colleagues in our partner bodies
  • Oversee gift aid claims and other HMRC administration as required 
  • Review of payroll reports and administration of auto-enrol pension
  • Prepare accurate and detailed minutes of Finance and Risk Committee
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned
