Finance Officer (Part-time) - Scotland Malawi Partnership 

Salary: £26,065 (£15,639 pro rata, spread over 3-4 days - 22.5 hours total)

About the Organisation 

The Scotland Malawi Partnership (SMP) is the national civil society network coordinating, supporting and representing the people-to-people links between our two nations. We represent a community of 109,000 Scots with active links to Malawi.

They are a membership organisation which anyone in Scotland with an interest in Malawi can join. They are non-governmental politically neutral and exist to support their members.

They have over 1,000 member organisations and key individuals, including half Scotland's local authorities, every Scottish university and most of its colleges, 200 primary and secondary schools, dozens of different churches and faith-based groups, hospitals, businesses, charities and NGOs, and a wide range of grass-root community-based organisations. their work permeates almost all aspects of Scottish civil society.

About the Postion: 

The post-holder will assist the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive in the management and maintenance of office, administrative and financial systems within the Scotland Malawi Partnership, in order to sustain the ongoing smooth and cost-effective running of the organisation.  

Core Areas of Responsibility:

  • Manage all accounting/bookkeeping/financial and management reporting;
  • Manage all receipts and payments of funds;
  • Prepare annual accounts and annual returns (OSCR, Companies House, HMRC);
  • Manage independent examiner (external auditor) contract;
  • Assist with oversight of Malawi Scotland Partnership accounting and reporting;
  • Lead with financial reporting for funders;
  • Manage budgeting process;
  • Service SMP’s Audit & Finance Committee;
  • Provide updates and information for the Board of Directors as required;
  • Maintain membership and contacts database; 
  • Manage membership fees collection:
  • Manage office supplies;
  • Manage health and safety systems
  • General office administration;
  • Other duties as required for the smooth running of the Partnership.
