Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne

Contract type: Full time (37 hours per week), fixed term (6 month) contract

Salary: £19,475-£25,625


About the Organisation:

Traidcraft Exchange exists to support people to harness the benefits of trade; and to fight against injustice in global trade.

It works with partners in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, running programmes to support people working in different supply chains. Traidcraft's long experience in this area has meant it has a good understanding of how trade can lead to sustainable development and poverty eradication.

About the Role:

Working towards ambitious but achievable fundraising targets, it will be your professional mission to find new ways to share the good work that Traidcraft does and inspire people to get involved with messages that inspire people to sign up, take part and donate.

Supporting the Senior Digital Comms Officer, the postholder will help maximise Traidcraft's digital fundraising by trialling new approaches to social media/online advertising and online content creation over an initial 6 month research and test period. Responsibilities will include the following:

Content Creation

  • To research, create and publish content for Traidcraft Exchange’s digital channels – with an emphasis on social media and the website (
  • To assist the process of collecting the best content from our development projects and campaigns/policy work for publishing online
  • To create strong visuals/videos that get great engagement online.

Search Engine Optimisation

  • To build Traidcraft Exchange’s link profile in terms of quantity and quality – by looking for potential collaboration opportunities with other organisations and content producers (e.g. bloggers)
  • To research potential new opportunities for Traidcraft Exchange’s google adgrants account
  • To create, monitor and update google adverts on key search terms.

Monitoring and reporting

  • To assist in monthly reporting on Traidcraft Exchange’s digital output – including social media, emails and website performance
  • To analyse some of this data and spot opportunities to improve performance – particularly from a fundraising perspective.

New audiences

  • To use digital channels to contribute to Traidcraft Exchange’s goal to reach new audiences and grow its supporter base, particularly through campaigning
  • To assist in creating and reporting on Facebook advertising campaigns designed to recruit new supporters.
