Job Description 

Mary’s Meals International is delighted to be recruiting for an Assistant Director of Programmes to provide leadership support to our Director of Programmes and Programmes Leadership Team. Working closely with our programme affiliates and programme partners, you will play a key role in the strategic development and operational success of the Mary’s Meals feeding programmes. An inspirational senior leader, serving as an integral member of the Programmes Leadership Team, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and programmatic excellence, your work will play a key role in delivering our school feeding programmes and changing the lives of over 1.4 million children who will today receive a Mary’s Meals.
Reporting to our Director of Programmes, this a varied and challenging role that will support and enhance our global programmes. A strong influencer, you will lead and support the development and implementation of projects, policies and processes, ensuring quality, stewardship and simplicity are deeply embedded in our work.  We are currently feeding children in 18 countries and you will also have the opportunity of working closely with internal and external stakeholders to further the reach of Mary’s Meals.

Other key areas of responsibility include:

  • Contributing to global Programmes strategy to enable the development and growth of our feeding programmes.
  • Coordinating annual reviews of Programme roadmaps, strategic plans and implementation plans.
  • Coordinating the provision of comprehensive management information and analysis to senior management, providing clear summarisation and recommendations.
  • Leading proactive reviews of core aspects of our programmes to identify any continuous improvement opportunities and the sharing of best practice across the global family.
  • Supporting and coordinating programmatic reporting against organisational objectives, budgets and providing support in all internal and external governance requests.


An exceptional communicator, you will be degree qualified or equivalent, with proven experience of strong leadership and building organisational capability. With experience of implementing projects and programmes in a complex, global environment and managing relationships with culturally diverse stakeholders, you will be comfortable working with key internal and external stakeholders at a senior level, and may be required to do some travel to countries where our programmes operate. Experience of working in the non-profit sector is not essential, but the desire to make a positive change in the world and alignment with the values of our organisation are essential.
