Job Description 

Role and Responsibilities    
Due to Link’s growth and development we are now recruiting an Assistant Accountant to support the delivery of a high quality finance service to Link Community Development International and to our five partner countries in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Rwanda and Uganda. Key responsibilities will include:

•    Provide timely and accurate finance support to the programme and fundraising teams to assist them with forecasting, budgeting, reconciliation and reporting
•    Support preparation of donor budgets and reporting in line with agreed timetables
•    Maintain accurate records of both unrestricted and restricted fund transactions including receipts, grants, expenses and cash balances
•    Support preparation of annual budget
•    Cash management and robust cash flows
•    Prepare supporting documents for the annual financial statements
•    Prepare management reports and comparison of actual against budget 
•    Prepare ad hoc finance reports as required 
•    Review the QuickBooks financial ledgers including period end processes and reconciliations
•    Provide first line support to Finance colleagues in our partner bodies
•    Oversee gift aid claims and other HMRC administration as required 
•    Review of payroll reports and administration of auto-enrol pension
•    Prepare accurate and detailed minutes of Finance and Risk Committee
•    Other ad hoc duties as assigned

Person Specification
•    Educated to degree level or equivalent with demonstrable experience in a similar role
•    Part-qualified accountant (or qualified by experience)
•    Experience of supporting production of statutory financial statements, payroll and charity accounting
•    Experience of prioritising projects to meet tight deadlines
•    Experience of QuickBooks
•    Experience of the international development or education sectors
•    Must be highly numerate with the ability to work both on own and as part of a team
•    Excellent attention to detail but ability to see the bigger picture
•    Must be IT literate with advanced skills in Excel
•    Ability to communicate finance to non-finance staff
•    Excellent written and spoken English 
•    High level of professional and ethical conduct
•    Commitment to upholding the highest standards in child and adult safeguarding
•    Great team-working skills
