Water stewardship in Africa - Water Witness International & the Alliance for Water Stewardship

Water stewardship in Africa - Water Witness International & the Alliance for Water Stewardship

29th October 2018, 17:30 to 19:30

Location: Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation, High School Yards, Infirmary Street, Edinburgh EH1 1LZ

Since 2015 the Scottish Government, through its Climate Justice Fund and HydroNation Initiative, has played a catalytic role in establishing water stewardship in Malawi and across Africa. Water stewardship drives water use for economic development, whilst ensuring socially equitable, sustainable and climate resilient resource use. With Scottish support Water Witness International and the Alliance for Water Stewardship have spearheaded the development and roll out of the global standard for responsible water stewardship. Its adoption by a growing number of businesses and multi-nationals has raised the bar for pro-poor investment and redefines the roles businesses can play in delivering the SDGs as part of the Beyond Aid agenda.

Join this gathering of leaders from within business, finance, government, research and sustainable development to celebrate the achievements made possible by Scotland’s support, and to debate the next steps for scaling impact.
