The Alliance hosted ‘Safeguarding Question Time’ on Thursday the 21st of February at The SCVO Gathering

Safeguarding has been under considerable scrutiny following heightened media attention on the international development sector in 2018 and abuses that had taken place in development and humanitarian work. It is essential that third sector organisations, particularly those working in partnership either domestically or internationally, have robust policies, practice and procedures that strive to go beyond compliance, and towards a gold standard of safeguarding. Organisations in Scotland must be supported in the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.

The event introduced the recently published Safeguarding package developed by Scotland’s International Development Alliance with support from the Scottish Government; provided the opportunity to hear progress on the Department for International Development's Resource and Support Hub; and clarifed OSCR's regulatory requirements, while also helping participants to familiarise themselves with a range of other support options at Scottish and UK level.
