Effective fundraising: Writing a case for support

Duration: 10:00-12:00 UK time Friday 26 February, and 10:00-11:00 Friday 5 March (total time commitment will be in the region of 1-day including a prep and post-workshop exercise and peer learning/networking via the online learning platform)

Who is it for: This session will be particularly useful for fundraising staff, business development leads and CEOs, as well as trustees of small organisations and staff involved in fundraising activities. This training will be relevant for all our members whether you are an NGO, social enterprise or consultant.
What you will be able to do after the course:
Clearly articulate a case for support to a donor built upon your organisational vision
Explore questions that will help you develop an effective case for support for potential donors
Analyse different tools and approaches to help you strategically develop a case for support
Identify how to overcome common challenges with developing a case for support
Why you should attend:
Are you writing an application to a new institutional donor, trust or foundation but unsure how to speak about the work that your organisation does? Are you struggling to summarise your organisation’s vision or having troubling explaining why the work you do is unique?
If the answer is yes, then this is the training session for you.
This interactive workshop will give you the practical tools and confidence you need to write an effective case for support and help you with your fundraising activities. It is a difficult time to fundraise for international work, with the lack of resilience funds and the recent UK Government budget announcement that the 0.7% for official development assistance will be cut. There are some positive funding stories emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic and this session will focus on helping you to make a compelling case to new donors. The session will present a case study and create a space for dialogue and peer learning between members.
About the trainer
Marie McQuade is an Associate Senior Consultant with THINK Consulting Solutions who work with 500 charities across 80 countries. She specialises in fundraising and communications with an emphasis on sustainable strategic growth and having the communities we work with at the heart of the charity.
Marie has been dedicated to the charity sector since she was at university when she spent three months in India volunteering at Raphael Ryder-Cheshire Home in Dehra Dun. Upon graduation she landed her first job with Mencap. Subsequent roles over the last 25 years have included Senior Fundraising Lead at Dublin Simon Community and Fundraising, Communications and Innovation Director at Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres and diverse array of national and international charities as a consultant.
