Proposal Development: Making the Most of MEL

Event Date

Wednesday, 21st August 2019

9:30 am

Topic:  Making the most of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)

Location: Fourth Floor, Hayweight House, Lauriston Street

Time: 09:30-13:00

Date: Wednesday 21st August

Trainer: Ceris Jones

Who is it for: this workshop series will be useful for small charities who would like to work towards re-submitting a previously unsuccessful proposal, or those who are looking to put together future proposals. It will be particularly useful for members who are unfamiliar with the implications of donor policies/ requirements on project proposals (e.g. Scottish Government, Department for International Development).

Session objectives:

  1. Craft statements that capture the intended success of the project and match these with measurable indicators

  1. Identify best practice designing a MEL framework for an international development project

  1. Understand how MEL can be used for adaptive programming to improve development outcomes within a project lifecycle

  1. Understand what MEL inputs are required by development donors in funding proposals

Why you should attend:

Are you confused about the difference between monitoring and evaluation? Muddled up between your project outputs and outcomes? Unsure whether all the project outcomes are indeed measurable? Uncertain about how much of the project budget needs to be allocated to MEL related activities?

If the answer is yes to any of those questions, then this is the workshop for you!

We will introduce various tools that will help you to fill out the results frameworks or grant monitoring sheets for grant applications; help you to understand the importance of embedding MEL into the very beginning of project cycles and also use findings to inform adaptive programming.

Members’ application success rate:

Over 75% of Alliance members who got application support for Scottish Government small grants funding last year were successful in their grant applications.

Please note that spaces for this training session are capped at ten to ensure that there is a conducive learning environment. Places are limit to one attendee per member organisation.

This training session is free for Alliance members. Not yet a Member? Find out how to join The Alliance or contact us if you have any questions about membership.
